Path of Hope

While in Alaminos in the Philippines, I was warmingly welcomed by Mayor Hernani Braganza who brought me to their GK Eco-Village - a rehousing project. After many tear-jerking speeches and a beautiful performance by children, we began to build the village's first paved road. Marking the start with my name and handprints, the children then began to help brick by brick. This "Path of Hope" is being ingeniously paved with bricks/slabs made from 60% recycled waste products (plastics, cardboards, etc..) from a nearby facility, and will kickstart further growth at the GK Eco-Village where many villagers are producing wonderful handicrafts using old magazines, newspapers and more! There's even a GK Bed&Breakfast facility for visitors in progress and I hope to be one of their first guests!

A really lovely morning spent here with the community doing truly wonderful work and I learned a lot. Thank you for the experience!
