Lifeworks - Preventing HIV

While in Kenya, I was fortunate to meet Grover Ainsworth, a Peace Corps volunteer, who introduced me to Shukrani Lifeworks - livelihood projects helping women of Mariakani in Kenya make their dreams a reality.

The mission of Lifeworks Partnership is to prevent HIV through sustainable job creation. In this effort, Shukrani and its beautiful home and fashion accessories were developed. By creating safe living-wage employment opportunities the women now have a positive and creative way to support themselves and their families without resorting to more risky alternatives. Taking pride in their work and the opportunity given to them, the women named this unique company Shukrani, which means We Give Thanks.

Grover gave me several Lifeworks items which I modelled for in a fun photoshoot to help them promote their products.
