I attended and hosted the launch of Human Nature's "Pure Strength" natural men's care brand at GK Victoria in Tarlac. I introduced social entrepreneurs: Bryan McClelland - creator of the "Bambike" (bamboo bikes), GK executive director Luis Oquinena and Chips Gueverra, who runs cars on used cooking oil!
A "Bambike" is a bicycle made from quality bamboo and handcrafted by skilled workers of Gawad Kalinga Victoria in Tarlac. Bamboo bow ties and bamboo moustaches are also made from bamboo remnants.
The launch included a Bambike demo and workshop tour as well as a competitive off-road biking event using Bryan's Bambikes. Later, I had a play in the GK village's bamboo playground. Check out the bamboo swing and seesaw!
Did you know bamboo has greater tensile strength - resistance to being pulled apart - than steel, and it withstands compression better than concrete? Wow!
